An overview of Homeland Security principles and practices. Areas covered include: Homeland Security strategies, plan development, working vocabulary and methodology for assessment of Homeland Security projects. Emphasis will be on bringing the attendee group to a common knowledge platform for future action and analyses.

Contemporary Issues in Homeland Security
An in-depth analysis of major topics related to Homeland Security issues and concerns. Areas covered include: history and development of terrorism, risk management, threat assessment and prioritization of action. Emphasis will be on contemporary case studies and interactive discussion.

QSM 700 |
Integrated Studies in Homeland Security and Quality Systems Management
An advanced examination of Quality Systems Management principles and practices as applied to Homeland Security. Emphasis will be on understanding the principles and practices as they comprise a whole system rather than examination in depth. Among practical tools covered are data collection, activity-based costing, benchmarking and six sigma analyses.

QSM 800 |
Homeland Security Field Project Management
The principles and practices of Homeland Security and Quality Systems Management learned in previous courses are combined with project management techniques and applied to a specific Homeland Security project. NGS faculty provide extensive, hands-on guidance to students through the selection, analysis and assessment of the project. Each project is also championed by a senior-level authority connected to Homeland Security agency or organization and selected by the attendee or designated by NGS.
